*for anyone who doesn't remember what I'm talking about, I am sewing my own version of Erdem's S/S 2011 red lace dress.
Hello! Exciting news! Last weekend I went over to my grandparents' house and sewed the first part of my dress. The first part is just the slip, or the silky fabric underneath the lace so that I don't show too much skin. My grandparents are the ones helping me with this project because they are the only other people in my family that know how to sew. I also needed their help because I have never learned how to correctly read clothing patterns, so this was a perfect chance. For my first real garment, it turned out really well! I did great on the sizing, which is what I've always had problems with before. In the pictures below of the slip, you can tell that we didn't hem it yet, but that's because we wanted to wait 'till we get the lace dress done, so that we can make the slip's hem slightly shorter. Anyways, I'm so excited for this project! It's already turned out so well, and the fabric I'm using is gorgeous. I'll keep you posted over the next couple of weeks on my progress!
Here is the fabric I've chosen! It's a gorgeous, rich blue -but not really navy blue. Anyways, I love it.
Front of the slip. Remember, it's not hemmed yet.
Back of slip. Sorry for the tacky white tank top underneath! lol.
***For other news, yesterday's post was MY 100th BLOG POST!!! Hooray, hooray! :)
