DIY: Embroidery Yarn Spools

Going to make Friendship Necklaces? Well, you will need some way to easily hold all that embroidery yarn without getting into a huge mess, so make these embroidery yarn spools!

*Set aside your yarn that you want to put on the spools

1) Get out some scraps of thick paper/card stock/scrapbook paper.

2) Draw a bold "I" shape about 1 inch wide. (draw 2)

3) Cut out both drawings but not right on the edge just yet. This way you have more control when cutting out your spool.

4) NOW cut off the excess paper on both pieces so that you have the "I" shape.

5) Glue both unprinted sides together.

6) Now you have a spool for your yarn! But you aren't quite done yet. Make a few more, enough so that you have 1 spool for each color embroidery yarn that you have.

7) Cut a slit right on the side of each spool.

8) Insert one side of your yarn in the slit, so that it holds. Now wrap the whole bundle of embroidery yarn around the spool. Do this for all spools.

9) Here I cut one last slit to hold the other end of my yarn, so that it doesn't unravel until it needs to be used.
