Sheer Maxi Skirts

Browsing some of my favorite blogs, I couldn't help but to notice that 2 of the blogs I'm following posted about sheer maxi skirts just yesterday! That is a perfect example of how popular they are becoming for this S/S of 2011. Last fall, maxi shirts were all over the runways, usually worn with lingerie underneath the sheer fabric and a fancy top (all shown as evening-wear.) But if you take a look at street style and personal style bloggers all around the world, they are wearing the look in a whole new way! Under the sheer fabric girls are wearing other neon colored or black solid skirts underneath. (This is the real-life, not runway, alternative to showing off your undies.) Also, instead of using the sheer skirt as evening-wear, girls are wearing it with loose sweaters or tank tops with a jacket and boots. there are so many different ways to wear this amazing trend, so it's something you have to try out in your own way. and if you can't find the perfect sheer maxi skirt, make one!!! This way you can get the exact fabric, style, and fit that you want. Great weekend DIY project, huh? I am very excited about making my own as soon as I can go out and get the fabric. In the meantime, research some different DIY projects that tell you how to make a sheer maxi skirt, and also different street style photos to get some ideas on how to wear the trend. Decide if you like it or not. It is up to you!
